Blogging in the age of Tik Tok

Who in their right mine starts a blog in 2026? A millennial of course. I, like the rest of the world, have been content to doom scroll on social media for a long time. The dopamine hit is undeniable, and there are practical benefits to connecting on social media like discovering new recipes, new local spots to visit, and keeping in touch with old friends. But some of us can remember life before social media, when life wasn’t so curated, serendipity existed, and imagination hadn’t been stifled my constant stimulation. I am craving a return to the “before times” when I could tolerate being bored, make my own fun, and write, create, and share what inspires me without the need for constant approval via “likes”.

While I know some of us elder-millennials feel the same way, I am under no illusions that the masses are ready for a return to blogs. But that underscores the point of this blog all the more. This is a creative outlet where I can share things intended to inspire or help other people and do so without expectations.
